Winners of Fallbrook Scarecrow Days Contest announced

FALLBROOK – Ring Around the Rosy along with Rapunzel and the Wizard Of Oz characters were the incentive for ScareCREW's 10th Fallbrook Scarecrow Days celebration. These new displays along with the Silent People, Pumpkin Heads, Train Conductor, and others were the inspiration for the Scarecrow entries in this year's contest.

Judging is completed and the winners have been selected in the following categories:

Kids/family/group - Girl Scout Troop #2362, Live oak Elementary, and Mike Choate Early Childhood Center

Pop Culture - D'Vine Path

Reduce, reuse/recycle - Mykele Goodman

WOW factor - Voces Fallbrook

Promoting business - Arlan Knutson Insurance

Artistic merit - Fallbrook Garden Club

Funniest - Village Copy

Winners are also posted on Facebook in Fallbrook Scarecrow Days page.

The workshops were full to capacity of eager participants of all ages to design and build their own scarecrows with the help of ScareCREW volunteers. Frames, paper mache' heads, different forms for arms and legs plus accessories were available for their convenience. Some came to touch up, repair or revamp their scarecrows.

To view all the scarecrows that were registered, pick up a directory at the Chamber or go to Facebook's Fallbrook Scarecrow Days page. Scarecrows will be displayed through Oct. 31.

Scarecrow Kids Corner at the Farmers Market on Saturdays was a big hit with the kids. Something old, writing letters to Mr. and Mrs. Scarecrow was new for them. The ScareCREW appreciates the support of the businesses, residents, non-profit groups and organizations, Angel Society, Yogurt Palace, SDG&E, Daniel Martinez, all the high School volunteers for Kids Corner, and Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce.

Creating Fallbrook as a destination for tourism is the reason why the ScareCREW picked this season and Scarecrow Days event. Fallbrook’s community spirit and enthusiasm makes for fall fun days for visitors and all to enjoy.
