The 20th San Diego International Film Festival ended the 22nd of October. With over 160 films listed at multiple locations, it was an opportunity to view movies from around the world from every genre without boarding a plane. A movie enthusiast, it was a delight to view so many of them from the comfort of my couch. Some might call them small films but quite often their content was not.

A correction from last week. San Diego Rep is at the Lyceum in downtown San Diego. Their next show is "The Second City, She the People" opening Nov. 18 and playing through Dec. 5. For ticket information, visit http://www.sdrep.org.

North Coast Repertory in Solana Beach opened with "Ben Butler" on the 20th and it will run until Nov. 14, followed by the much-loved production of "Patsy Cline." For tickets, go to http://www.northcoastrep.org

Broadway San Diego is kicking off with "Hairspray," Nov. 16-21 before leaving town to be followed by "My Fair Lady" opening on the 30th for one week only. For more information, visit http://www.broadwaySD.com.

New Village Arts in Carlsbad is presenting the World Premier musical "1222 Oceanfront, A Black Family Christmas" starting Nov. 19. See http://www.nva.org for tickets.

Meanwhile, at The Welk Theatre a Beatles' tribute, "A Hard Day's Night,'' runs different nights starting Nov. 3 with a tribute to Creedance Clearwater coming Nov. 13 and 20. Go to http://www.sandiegotickets.welkresorts.com.

An exciting new show is opening at La Jolla Playhouse about Vincent Van Gogh in Paris around February 1886. "The Yellow House" is an inside look at one segment of his life. Visit http://www.lajollaplayhouse.org and check out the parking arrangements.

Further south at The Old Globe, they're switching gears Nov. 3 with Dr. Seuss's "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" running through Dec. 31. Grab your tickets early for the best seats at http://www.theoldglobe.org.

"La Cage Aux Folles" is still tearing up the stage at The Cygnet Theatre. It will close on Nov. 7. This not to be missed show is an absolute joy of song, dance, and high kicks. For tickets, go to http://www.thecygnettheatre.com.

San Diego Musical Theatre just closed "Rent" with no production posted yet for the upcoming Holiday season.
