Senior center fundraiser features calendar girls

FALLBROOK – “The Remarkable Women of Greater Fallbrook” is the name of a calendar and the theme of the upcoming fundraiser for the Fallbrook Senior Center. Inspiration came from the 2003 British comedy “The Calendar Girls” The film follows the true journey of a small group of senior and middle-aged women who create a nude calendar to raise money for Leukemia Research after the cancer death of the husband of one of their members. To date, over $4 million has been raised for cancer research with the sale of calendars, the film, a stage play, and other merchandising.

Many remarkable people call the Greater Fallbrook area home, and they dedicate thousands of hours volunteering their time to make the community a village loved by all. Doubtless residents will recognize some of the women being featured in this 2022 calendar, and some may be new to them. The Senior Center hopes everyone will participate in this event that will feature the sale of The Remarkable Women of Greater Fallbrook calendars, a silent auction, the premier of a short video, and, of course, the showing of the film, “The Calendar Girls.”
