BP Battery makes presentation at FVCC meeting

FALLBROOK – Reed Gleason, Proprietor of BP Battery gave a 45 minute presentation to the Fallbrook Vintage Car Club at their October meeting held at Crossroad Community Church. A mini-car show commenced at 5:30 p.m. in the lower parking lot with vehicles decorated in a Halloween and Fall Flavor. Hors d'oeuvres, appetizers, and salads were brought in by members "potluck" style and were served in the kitchen of the church. Over an hour of socializing and eating was had by all.

President Kathy Hesser called the meeting to order and introduced Gleason. He spoke about the family business that included his dad's and an uncle's direct involvement in getting it started. Gleason now runs the daily operations and his dad pokes his head in from time to time.

Forty members were present for the meeting, four of which were brand new. Gleason had a very captive audience with many sharp questions from the group. Topics included battery tenders and chargers, when and how to use each or both. "Exercising" your batteries; it's important. How do you best maintain a battery in a vehicle that maybe only gets started once a month? Wet cell vs. AGM and Gel batteries, pros and cons. What are the best ways to maintain RV batteries, coach and chassis? Also, how to prevent corrosion. Battery consumption in newer cars with computerized everything, some electronics are "on" all the time. New cars with two batteries. Cold cranking amps, battery sizes and classes, it was very informative.

The next FVCC General Meeting is Tuesday Nov. 16 at the same location, 7 p.m. at Crossroad Community Church. Interested attendees are welcome to come. Social gathering is at 6:30 p.m. with dessert provided by the club. Visit their newly-refreshed website at http://www.fallbrookvintagecarclub.org or email [email protected] with any inquiries.
