Stewart herself said, "I have never been good about self-promotion, part of my upbringing. I let others be my cheerleader. I find it's a strength and allows me to be myself. And who is that self? Someone with a childlike curiosity that never seems to wane, well into my senior years."

Stewart added, "First and foremost I like people. My hobby is to learn from others, mostly people who are not like me at all. I like to hear their stories, how they became the person they are today. Through that curiosity I learned to paint, garden, cook, can, make liqueurs, quilt, sew, and read books on topics I never thought I had an interest in. Love to hike and camp and, I can't forget, love animals. I get my inspiration to create from nature, whether it's creating food, an oil painting or writing a story. Best part is when I get to share and hopefully brighten someone's day."
