Elena Roy search volunteers needed Saturday morning 9 am

The family of Elena Roy is asking for volunteers to come and help their mom, Elena Roy, who turned 84 this week, and is still missing after reportedly walking away from her home Wednesday, Nov. 3.

According to homicide detective Lt. Seiver, "This case has been transferred to the homicide division, which is typical after 30 days. With this case, the Fallbrook station put so many assets into this case that we were able to do it sooner."

Roy, who suffers from undiagnosed dementia, according to husband Chris Cataldo, is an avid walker.

Volunteers and organizers are meeting at Estrella's restaurant at 3757 S. Mission Rd. this Saturday, Nov. 20, at 9 am. On the flyer the message is, "We need volunteers to help us search for Elena. Fallbrook has many heavily wooded areas and we need more manpower to find her."

in addition to hundreds of volunteers, Search and Rescue and the Fallbrook Sheriff's Department, the family has also been working with private investigator Tony Campbell and search and rescue expert Rena Salomon. Roy's husband Chris Cataldo said, "both of them have been nearly superhuman in their efforts on her and our behalf."

Salomon of the HEART Foundation has been assisting the family. She's known as "Angel in a Hummer" for her work after hurricane Katrina rescuing people out of the floodwater in New Orleans. H.E.A.R.T. Stands for Humanitarian Emergency Aid Response Team, and according to Soloman, she works internationally & nationwide traveling to major catastrophic natural disasters.

Soloman says she's been working for 36 years finding missing persons and helping families deal with family members who have gone missing.

Private investigator Tony Campbell grew up in Fallbrook and specializes in finding people. When he wasn't looking for Elena a week ago, he found a family member who was on the other side of the country for a parent here in Fallbrook. "Those are my favorite jobs," said Campbell.

Roy, age 84, was wearing black pants and a white and blue short-sleeved shirt with blue and tan shoes on and an ivory beanie. If anyone sees a person fitting Roy's description they should immediately call 911.
