Funding shows Warrior Pride alive in Fallbrook

Like many in town, Chris Fore remembers “the good old days” when everything shut down for Friday home games at Fallbrook High School. That’s when Warrior Pride reigned.

After several down years on the gridiron, that feeling is returning. FHS won its first playoff game in six years last Friday, Nov. 12, 49-0 over San Ysidro High School. Coach Troy Everheart’s team is on a roll and travels to play Palo Verde Valley High School in Blythe on Friday, Nov. 19.

Fore, who played for the Warriors in the early 1990s when the team went to the playoffs nearly every year, had the idea to support the team by rallying his friends to raise money for a team meal that may not have been budgeted.

“Something kind of special to Fallbrook happening this morning,” he reported on Saturday. “I'm on a text with about 16 of my Class of 1994 friends who all grew up in Fallbrook. It was ‘Hey, let's raise $500 for the football team meal next week’.”

By Sunday, the goal had mushroomed to $3,590, and Fore transferred the money to the Fallbrook Booster Club to use for the program.

“Fallbrook football is special!” Fore said. “Football meant a lot and it still does. With the game three hours away on Friday, there are extra expenses.”

He said there were 20-some buddies who participated in the fundraising, most who played for the Warriors and that he has continued to communicate with via texting.

“The team doctor and band booster president also pitched in,” he said. “It just shows that Warrior Pride is still alive. Once a Warrior, always a Warrior.”
