Like nothing you've ever heard before: 'Acoustic Eidolon' in concert.

FALLBROOK – The international duo "Acoustic Eidolon" is a tour-de-force of acoustic music, and area residents are in for a special treat when Fallbrook Music Society presents these superb musicians on stage Thursday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m. Described as "World Music for the Soul," featuring Joe Scott on double neck guitjo, and Hannah Alkire on cello, these intriguing artists have captivated audiences throughout the world.

The married couple, who hail from Colorado, bring their signature "new acoustic" sound and boundless possibilities in blending Celtic, Americana, World and Flamenco musical influences, which have been praised as a "sumptuous musical feast."

Scott plays a one-of-a-kind guitjo, which is basically a custom built acoustic guitar with two necks, an instrument of Scott's own design, which produces a beautiful harp-like sound. The guitjo can also sound like a mandolin, a hammered dulcimer or a banjo. Alkire's instrument has been described as "a cello with attitude."

The double-neck guitjo has 14 strings, and Scott has developed his own style and technique, playing both necks simultaneously. Classically-trained cellist Alkire studied with G. Magyar of the Hungarian String Quartet and is recognized internationally for her stunning tone and emotional, impeccable playing – and for taking the cello places it's never been before. The mixing of their diverse musical backgrounds and their unusual instrumentation creates their passionate music.

Fallbrook Music Society President Bob Freaney said, "Our audience for this concert will be in for a very special treat. Acoustic Eidolon offers concert-goers a chance to absorb some of the most powerful and intriguing music on the scene today."

This instrumental feast will take place on Thursday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m. in Fallbrook's historic Mission Theater, 231 N. Main Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for social hour, and concert hall doors open at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are $15 per adult until Thursday, March 10 at noon; $20 thereafter, and can be purchased at fallbrookmissiontheater.com or fallbrookmusicsociety.org.
