Art demo to feature pastels

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Art Association has several upcoming events at their new facility located at 300 N. Brandon Road, in the Old Town Fallbrook complex. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays – Saturdays. General meetings are held at the Fallbrook Woman's Club, 238 W. Mission Road on the third Saturday of each month, always free and open to the public, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Each general meeting includes refreshments, announcements, a chance to meet local artists, and always features a demonstration and member's artwork critique by a visiting artist.

FAA welcomes Dawn Buckingham who will do a demonstration in pastels March 19. Buckingham is an award winning artist with a passion for capturing the landscape in all seasons. She began to pursue pastel painting after retirement from education. She continues her love of teaching by introducing others to the pastel medium through classes and leads weekly online pastel studio sessions.

Buckingham is affiliated with Plein Air Artists Colorado, Pastel Society of Southern California, and Pastel Society of the West Coast, just to name a few. Her work is shown at the Studio 7 Gallery in Laguna Beach. At 1 p.m., she will teach a three hour workshop using pastels to create a 9x12 painting. Attendees should bring a sketchbook, photo reference and pastel supplies if they have them. If anyone has no supplies and wants to try, Buckingham will provide materials to get them started including table easels, surface and pastels.

Registration for the workshop in advance is required. The cost to members is $40, $50 for non-members. Call Carol Reardon to register for the workshop and receive a materials list, 760-221-5577.
