Fallbrook Women Golfers announce 60th anniversary reunion

FALLBROOK – In 1962 the Cook family opened the Fallbrook Golf Club on Gird Road. In 1990, the Cook's daughter, Blair, took over management of the golf course. In 2004, she found she needed to sell the course. Much happened in the next several years and in 2016 the course officially closed. It was with a sad heart Fallbrook Women Golfers, who had been playing there since 1962, needed to find a new home.

Fortunately, the Golf Club of California did not have a public women's golf club at that time, so they were kind enough to allow the club to officially play there. But after two years they had to make a hard choice. Did FWG combine with the GCC women's club, and lose their official club, or find another home? It was a hard decision, but in 2018 FWG found a new home at Camp Pendleton's Marine Memorial Golf Course.

This year marks the 60th year of the Fallbrook Women Golfers. Dolly Harty, the current president, has been a member since 2001. After she had browsed all the handbooks for the past 20 years, she wondered where have all these gals gone? She thought, what better time to rekindle old friendships than at the 60th anniversary mark. She has booked Nov. 11, at the Monserate Winery; what better place to reminisce than at the location of the old Fallbrook Golf Club?

The plan is to have a luncheon and fashion show around the area of the old 17th green of Fallbrook Golf Club. What could be better than sipping a glass of Monserate wine, watching a slideshow of old events, rekindling old friendships, sharing stories and remembering the old days at Fallbrook Golf Club?

Anyone who was ever a member of Fallbrook Women Golfers, or knows someone who was, is asked to contact Harty at [email protected].
