BWC art contest was 'In Good Hands'

BONSALL – The Bonsall Woman's Club's program at its March general meeting featured the art works of members. Four members walked away with first place ribbons and one Best-in-Show ribbon for their entries. First place winners of the In Good Hands: Art Contest and Show were Barbara Chahbazian, fine arts; Elaine Davis, creative writing; Mary Jo Pfaff, photography; and Bev York, crafts. Davis was also awarded Best-in-Show for her fine arts entry by guest judge Mary Perhacs, executive director of the Fallbrook Art Center.

Fifteen BWC members submitted 25 entries spread among four categories, which were beautifully displayed. Crafts brought in the largest number of entries ranging from quilts, crochet and cross-stitch to jewelry and general crafting. After the 10 entries in the crafts category, photography had the most with eight entries, and creative writing and fine arts each had three entries.

Judging was done "anonymously" with the entrants' names kept secret until the winners were announced.

The success of this program was due to the efforts of many BWC members. This art contest and show was inspirational and uplifting, members said.

The club meets the first Thursday of the month at the Bonsall Community Center, 3151 Old River Road. The doors open at 9:30 a.m. with the business-portion of the meeting starting at 10 a.m. with a program following.
