The Santa Fe Christian swim team traveled to Fallbrook High School for a March 15 meet against Fallbrook, and the Fallbrook boys prevailed by a 111-27 score.
“It was another good meet, an opportunity to see some kids start switching up some events,” said Fallbrook coach Bill Richardson.
The Eagles took first-place points in the 100-yard backstroke, but the Warriors won the other 10 events including six races in which Fallbrook also obtained the second-place points and one event in which the Warriors swept the top three scoring positions. The Warriors took first, second, and third in the 100-yard butterfly with Carson Vance completing the race in a CIF meet consideration qualifying time of 58.66 seconds; Ian Ritchie posting a time of 1:01.56, and Johnny Norman finishing his four laps in 1:35.96.
Fallbrook took first and second in two of the relay races. Vance, Matt Herbert, Tegan Cannon, and Sam Goode won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:53.44, which is a CIF meet consideration time, while Kenneth Fukunaga, Brayden Bender, Jeremy Nelson, and Alex Gabos took 2:01.33. The 200-yard freestyle relay was won by Brock Bushnell, Kai Maestas, Norman, and Doug Pearce in 1:39.53, which is a consideration time, while Vance, Ritchie, Bender, and Nelson posted a time of 1:42.10.
Maestas won the 200-yard individual medley race in 2:09.13, which is an automatic qualifying time for the CIF meet, while Goode finished second at 2:24.49. Gabos had the winning time of 2:05.92 in the 200-yard freestyle while Logan Enns had the second-place time of 2:14.09. John Hodgkinson won the 500-meter freestyle with a time of 6:24.75 while Bender became the second finisher 6:30.44 after the start of the race.
Pearce won the 50-yard freestyle with a consideration time of 23.09 seconds. Bushnell earned consideration status with his first-place time of 50.68 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle. Herbert posted a consideration time of 1:09.28 while taking first in the 100-yard breaststroke. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Bushnell, Maestas, Ritchie, and Pearce won their race in 3:35.53.
