Saved In America's founder launches 4th edition book of 'Investigation of Missing and Exploited Children: the Gateway of Child Sex Trafficking'

SAN DIEGO – Joseph Travers, founder of Saved In America, and his son Joshua Travers, who is an active law enforcement officer and law enforcement liaison for Saved In America, has published their fourth book, “Investigation of Missing and Exploited Children: The Gateway of Child Sex Trafficking.” This book is designed to provide the essential knowledge needed to identify and understand the issues and solutions that effectively combat the evils of domestic child sex trafficking in the United States.

It is an instructional guide and resource manual for both the citizen and the government manager. The approach is direct and concise, which facilitates comprehension by novices as well as experienced public servants. The purpose of this book is to fill the existing need for a precise, comprehensive manual detailing the elements to combat the child sex trafficking nexus. There is a lack of professional resources within the field of public and private prevention/ investigation of runaways, and this book will help with prevention and to fill that void.

Saved In America’s newest advisory board member, Mark Gillespie, TBCI, CMECI and past president of the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators, said “as a private investigator who searches for the missing and tries to raise awareness to combat human trafficking, I share the passion of Joseph and SIA. Like many, we apply our investigative skills and do what seems logical and practical. Unlike many other investigative disciplines such as criminal defense investigations, digital forensics, and infidelity investigations, etc., where investigators are exposed to many training and educational resources, little to nothing exists to train and equip those that perform missing person and human trafficking investigations.

“Unfortunately, a tremendous void exists. These types of investigations have, in a way, become trendy in the private investigation world and many do not have the experience, training, knowledge as well as the human and logistical resources to conduct them. Joseph’s book “Investigation of Missing and Exploited Children – The Gateway of Child Sex Trafficking,” finally fills that void and will serve as a blueprint for hundreds of investigators and volunteers worldwide to follow and overcome our enemy and bring precious treasures home safely,” Gillespie added.

“Investigation of Missing and Exploited Children: The Gateway of Child Sex Trafficking, fourth edition” is intended for the private individual with no prior child trafficking prevention experience, and the experienced professional (such as lawyers, private investigators, and police departments) that lack formal knowledge in child sex trafficking prevention. It is also written for those persons possessing a background in police or law enforcement, as well as those with an interest in researching child sex trafficking and prevention methods such as 1) Prevention, 2) Rescue, 3) Rehabilitation, 4) Investigation.

The third edition includes the statistics of 230+ recoveries since SIA’s inception. The second edition added vital rescue techniques to ensure all proper methods and steps are followed for documenting evidence. It also includes the methodology used to record statistical data needed for further study and comprehensive analytical research.

The first edition was based on 34 recoveries in 27 months. The material has been tested from real life events and selected from cases involving non-government organizations, law enforcement, and the legal field. Testimonies from families and law enforcement who have worked with Saved In America are included in the appendices.

Furthermore, the first edition PowerPoint has been used to teach professionals from The Human Smuggling and Trafficking Center, Washington, D.C., Naval Special Warfare Surveillance Reconnaissance Team, Coronado, CA., Texas Association of Licensed Investigators, Florida Association of Licensed Investigators, North Carolina Association of Private Investigators, South Carolina Association of Legal Investigators, Alabama Private Investigators Association, and Georgia Association of Professional Private Investigators.

In 2020, Saved In America received an extremely generous donation from a retired Navy Captain who currently works as a government civilian and used the “Investigation of Missing and Exploited Children: The Gateway of Child Sex Trafficking, second edition” to find his niece. In his own words:

“My 19-year-old niece flew out of the Denver airport to her apartment in Bismarck, North Dakota. After her older sister, who also lives in Bismarck didn’t hear from her and noticed her normal social media posting, including geo-location information had disappeared, she sent a text to the family asking if anyone had heard from her.

“Within another day or two, it was determined that although she had flown out of Denver, she never arrived at the Bismarck airport. We used the ‘find my phone’ app to determine my niece’s location and discovered she was in a house in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Minneapolis police were contacted, but once the police heard she was over 18 years old, nobody would take a report or investigate her disappearance.

“The family drove to Minneapolis and discovered she was in a house with a 63-year-old, life-long criminal, the criminal’s 37-year-old son, and another male in his late 20’s/early 30s.

“Two days later, I learned about the national sex trafficking problem and immediately suspected human trafficking. With no interest by police in the matter, I looked for other sources of advice and support. I soon discovered SIA and ordered the second edition book. It helped me to understand this issue from a national perspective, ask the right questions, and conduct my own investigation. I found it so useful that I ordered several other copies and donated some to churches. SIA’s book helped me put things in a more complete perspective. Eventually, we were able to locate my niece. Keep up the good work and educational outreach.”

“‘Investigation of Missing & Exploited Children: The Gateway of Child Sex Trafficking’ is, unbelievably, the first text of its kind, outlining a holistic approach to child sex trafficking prevention in America,” said Joseph Travers. “My goal is to help fill the void by providing real life testimonials, education and awareness, and to provide comprehensive information on child sex trafficking and prevention as an example for the entire country.” #ChildSavedNotSold
