Villa FC Boys 2011 win Vegas Cup

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Villa FC Boys 2011 team is run by head coach Manny Velazquez and assistant coach Youki Yasuda. The team took 15 families out to Las Vegas and stayed at Mandalay Bay to play in the Vegas Cup on March 26 and 27 at the Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex.

The first game March 26 was Fallbrook Villa vs Los Angeles Soccer Club which Fallbrook won 5-1 with overwhelming ball possession and accurate passing. The standout defensive performance came from rookie Juan Pablo Manuel and Alexa Velazquez. Standout offensive performance from Danny Acosta.

The second game was FVFC vs AC Brea from Orange County and Fallbrook won 7-0, primarily due to superior stamina and resilience in the arid desert heat. Outstanding midfield passing and control from Lizbeth Garcia, Isaiah Escudero and Chase Yasuda led to a lopsided time of possession and easy goal scoring from all strikers.

The third game, played March 27, was FVFC vs Knight Raiders from Las Vegas and Fallbrook won 2-0 by staying calm and focused in an extremely physical and chaotic game with multiple stoppages by referees and disruptive hometown parents.

Flawless defensive performance by Bryan Tomas and offensive pressure from Koen Rush kept the Knight Raiders on their heels while a critical mid-game goal from Jacob Santos deflated Las Vegas' sideline.

The final game was FVFC vs Las Vegas Surf Select and Fallbrook won 2-0 against a top 10 Nevada team with late goals following a grueling, back and forth battle in the middle of miserable heat and surprise dust storms. The standout offensive player was Emilio Amezcua with both goals. This win gave them the tournament championship.

Head coach Velazquez said he was overjoyed at the final outcome for the Fallbrook families and he repeatedly thanked parents for their substantial investment of time and money in their players' lives.

Coach Yasuda said, "I'm really proud of the kids and am glad they had their chance to shine in their first out-of-state tournament. After a late restart post-Covid, they have been working incredibly hard to get their conditioning and skills back to form and it has started to pay off with deep runs in the SoCal State Cup and this win in Vegas."
