The formula for the Valley League swim league championship bases half of the weighted standings on dual meet results and the other half on the positions at the league championship meet, which will be held this week at Fallbrook High School. Fallbrook’s girls will enter that league meet with the standings lead, as the Warriors won all five of their Valley League dual meets.

“This is the first half of it, and then how we do at the league championship meet will determine who the league champion is,” said Fallbrook coach Sean Redmond.

League dual meet competition for Fallbrook began March 18 with a 121-32 home victory over Escondido Charter. Fallbrook hosted Mission Hills on March 25 and won by a 102-77 margin. The April 1 home meet against Escondido ended with Fallbrook on the preferred end of the 111-39 final score.

Fallbrook’s first league meet on the road took place April 5 at Ramona, and the Warriors prevailed in that 114-68 meet.

Valley Center High School has home meets at Adams Community Park Pool, which has a 25-meter length rather than the standard 25-yard length. Redmond told his swimmers not to think about their times. “The pool is a little bit longer so it was more just getting up and racing and have some fun,” Redmond said.

The enjoyment included a 119-36 win over the Jaguars.

“I’ve been pleased with how we’ve been swimming,” Redmond said. “When it came time to get up and race, they raced.”

The league meet diving will be contested April 28 and the swim finals will be on April 29.
