As spring breaks through, so does Broadway San Diego with the musical "Come From Away" running May 17-22. It is based around the true story of when 38 plane loads of international passengers were rerouted to the obscure airfield in Gander, Newfoundland on Sept. 11, 2001. The Cygnet Theatre in Old Town San Diego opens with "Mud Row" the multigenerational story about two black sisters, May 18 – June 19 at 4040 Twiggs St. For ticket information, call 619-337-1525 or visit https://www.cygnettheatre.com/.

Meanwhile, Diversionary Theatre hasn't listed events for May yet, but by the time this hits, they'll no doubt be listed online. For more information, call 619-220-0097 or visit www. diversionary.org. The theatre which provides LGBTQIA+ stories is located at 4545 Park Blvd., 92116.

La Jolla Playhouse introduces another new show June 14, "Lampicka." It's a musical exploring the Russian revolution through the eyes of an aspiring portraitist who escapes to Paris. Old Globe Theater in Balboa Park is in the middle of "Bob Fosse's Dancin'" which continues until May 29. Simultaneously, the Spanish speaking play "Mala" will open May 7 and will run through June 12.
