VN columnist to speak to Newcomers Club

FALLBROOK – Spring is in the air and the Fallbrook Newcomers Club was busy in April. They held their spring event, Mardi Gras, that was enjoyed by all. There was also Bunco, a Cook-Along, Walk-About, Cards and various other gatherings. Newcomers hosted a booth at the Avocado Festival with a great response of potential new members.

Their next social meeting will be May 12 at 10 a.m. The guest speaker will be Elizabeth Youngman-Westphal. Members look forward to a lively presentation by this multi-talented local theatre critic and columnist. They will be able to ask her anything about any venue or play in San Diego County. She attends more than 50 productions annually, evaluating performances at all professional San Diego theatres.

In addition to her regular column in The Village News, entitled Theatre Talk, Youngman also writes a column called "Kicking It" every other week. Her insight comes from personal experience as an actor. She has performed in theatre, television commercials, films, stand-up comedy, and improvisation.

Making new friends, exploring local resources and entertainment are key to feeling at home when someone moves to a new area. Newcomers to Fallbrook, De Luz, or Bonsall within the past three years enjoy these benefits and much more when they join the Fallbrook Newcomers Club. The club provides helpful information, promotes local business and charities, and provides countless opportunities for fun and friendship through various activities, events, and outings.

Each month, an engaging speaker informs and entertains members interested in making connections and learning more about the community and surrounding areas. Anyone new to the area, having lived here for three years or less, and wishing to learn more about the club, would like to join or attend a meeting as a guest, can email [email protected].

For more information or to download a new membership application, visit https://www.fallbrooknewcomers.com. Membership is also open to residents that have been in Fallbrook, Rainbow, or De Luz longer than three years, but worked or had other commitments preventing them from joining sooner.
