Pop art to be featured at FAA meeting

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Art Association has several upcoming events at their new Gallery facility at 300 N. Brandon Road. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.

General meetings are held at the Fallbrook Women's Club, 238 W. Mission Road on the third Saturday of each month, always free and open to the public, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Each general meeting includes refreshments, a chance to meet local artists, and features an art demonstration and a painting critique session at 9:30 a.m.

The FAA will welcome Marian Seiders, an FAA member who will do a presentation on Pop Art at the FAA General Meeting May 21. Learn the origins and impact of Pop Art, its history and culture, some of the famous artists, their techniques and examples of their work. The morning demonstration is free and open to the public.

During the afternoon, registered workshop participants will be creating their own piece of Pop art on canvas using a variety of mixed media, paint, and objects with an emphasis on fun and creativity following Seiders's examples and suggestions. She is a retired art educator having taught middle school for 26 years with a B.A. in art history from Long Beach State University and a fine art teaching credential from Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Seiders is a member of the Los Angeles Assemblage Group and she belongs to and teaches workshops for The California Art Ed Assoc. Her art is privately collected and in many art shows in the region. Registration for the workshop is required in advance. The cost to FAA members is $40, $50 for non-members. Call Carol Reardon to register for the workshop and receive a materials list, 760-221-5577.
