The deadline to register to vote in the California Primary Election is Monday, May 23. There are multiple ways to register. Go to sdvote.com online to see options and get lots of information.

Some things to be aware of prior to registering to vote is that you must be a U.S. citizen, a California resident, at least 18-years-old on or before the next election, you are not in state or federal prison on a felony conviction, and you have not been declared mentally incompetent by a court action.

Different from past decades, voting doesn't take place on one special day anymore but instead takes place over many days. “Select Vote Centers” open daily, starting May 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through June 6.

All voting centers will be open starting June 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through June 6.

Then on Election Day, June 7, all vote centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

After that, all votes will be tallied and certified by July 7.
