San Diego Botanic Garden announces access program for low-income families

ENCINITAS – San Diego Botanic Garden is thrilled to announce it has joined Museums for All, a signature access program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Association of Children's Museums. The program's goal is to encourage people of all backgrounds to visit museums and other collections-based institutions regularly in the pursuit of developing lifelong museum-going habits.

Museums for All supports those receiving food assistance benefits by providing admission to SDBG for only $1 per person, for group's up to four people, with the presentation of either a state-issued SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer card or a Women, Infants, & Children card and a valid photo ID.

Museums for All is part of SDBG's broad commitment to seek, include, and welcome all audiences. Similar free and reduced admission is available to eligible members of the public at more than 800 museums across the country through this program.

"As a pillar of the San Diego community, the Garden invites everyone to experience our plant collections and immerse themselves in nature," said SDBG Senior Director for Visitor Services, Education and Membership Tomoko Kuta. "Through Museums for All, SDBG is pleased to welcome many more visitors for relaxation and recreation across our 37 acre campus, where they can learn about plants and nature through our important educational programs and gain firsthand knowledge about conservation and botanical sciences through our related research and technical services. Our 29 unique gardens are trusted spaces where people can explore and grow with our plants. SDBG is proud to participate in this initiative to expand Garden access for everyone."

Museums for All helps expand access to museums and raise public awareness about how museums in the US are reaching their entire communities. More than 800 institutions participate in the initiative, including art museums, children's museums, science centers, botanical gardens, zoos, history museums, and more. Participating museums are located nationwide, representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and US Virgin Islands.

Discounted admission to SDBG through Museums for All must be purchased in person at the garden on the day of entry. Please be prepared to pay with credit or with debit cards. The garden does not process cash transactions. For more information about Museums for All at SDBG, visit https://sdbgarden.org/specials.htm.
