Late night Saturday crash yields life-threatening injuries

Late Saturday, June 11, evening a motorcycle and wedding party bus collided on Highway 76, just east of Gird Road. The young adult male motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries.

According to North County Fire Protection District, the wedding party bus was on the side of the road because of a breakdown. The motorcyclist came around the bend and slammed into the back-end of the bus. He then went flying over into the ravine.

A rope rescue took place. The young man, who was unconscious, was treated at scene and secured in a stokes basket and and brought up to the road. A rescue ambulance then transported him to Mercy Air.

Mercy Air then transported the critically- injured motorcyclist to a trauma center.

Word this morning is the young man succumbed to his injuries, and we have sought confirmation from the Medical Examiner’s office. Calls and e-mails have not been returned.

California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
