Eldercare lawyer to speak at Parkinson's Support Group meeting

FALLBROOK – North County Parkinson’s Support Group Fallbrook invites anyone interested to join its monthly meeting, Friday June 24, 10 a.m. to noon, at the Fallbrook Regional Health District’s Wellness Center, 1636 E. Mission Road.

The guest speaker will be Richard Scott Stewart, Eldercare Esq. Attorney at Law. His presentation is "Be Prepared – Legal & Financial Documents for PWP's and their Care partners."

As partner and principal of California Estate and Elder Law, Stewart is an innovative thought-leader and attorney who specializes in estate and elder care law. His niche is finding solutions to complex issues and helping clients deftly navigate through potentially-devastating situations.

His approach involves digging into the entire landscape of clients’ specific issues to expose a full range of choices and opportunities for improvement. Full-spectrum planning helps families preserve both their assets and their relationships. This “care to know” philosophy broadens perspectives and reveals a refreshing breath of perspectives; importantly, it leads to the best possible outcome for clients.

He chose elder law because "I deeply appreciate helping a segment of our population escape from the financial ruin that can result from a lack of planning or unexpected illness. Crafting refined solutions to the age-old goal of passing assets from one generation as effectively as possible allows clients to protect their assets from being depleted by taxes, fees, and nursing home costs. The end result is clients who feel safe, knowing that their wishes will be heard and their plans executed, so they can get on with enjoying their lives. Helping a family in need, when all seems lost, affords unparalleled personal rewards."

Stewart represents clients throughout California with estate, disability, and Medi-Cal planning; he is a member of the California Bar, San Diego County Bar Association, California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform, National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; and serves on the Board of Directors for the Glenner Alzheimer's Family Centers. He conducts regular educational programs and seminars on elder law topics throughout Southern California and appears regularly on various news channels, both radio and television.

Break out groups are held for a time of sharing, coffee and refreshments after the program. The meeting is held in support of persons with Parkinson's disease, care partners and people interested in improving the world of those affected by Parkinson’s disease.
