Pool items for the youth in the Boys and Girls Clubs of North County is the latest "Serve Sundays" project completed by a group of Fallbrook churches.

Greg Coppock of SonRise Christian Fellowship in Fallbrook said the goal of about a dozen churches in Fallbrook was to bless the Boys and Girls Clubs of North County as the pool season is about to commence. Each church brought pool supplies like towels, sunscreen, swim goggles, hats and other needed items to their congregations on May 29, and approximately 20 people from those churches went to the Boys and Girls Club at 445 East Ivy, to assist with some general maintenance needs.

"We just sensed we were all to work together to bless an organization that is all about nurturing young people," said Coppock.

The next Serve Sunday will be July 31, with the goal of raising funds to help cover the costs of transportation and other funds needed so all kids in Fallbrook can have the opportunity to participate in the Boys and Girls Club programs, as well as assisting in continued maintenance.

For over 50 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of North County have been committed to serving youth and reaching out to young people in need. As a community based agency, the organization offers young people what they need and want most –adults who respect and listen to them, a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves, and interesting, constructive activities that channel youthful energy into challenging pursuits, Coppock said.

The collective Church of Fallbrook will host a picnic at Live Oak Park on Sunday, July 3, after morning services, to celebrate the birth of our country and the relationships that have been and will be developed throughout the Serve Sunday initiative. All are welcome to attend and enjoy hot dogs, horseshoes and the other family fun provided.
