Silvergate matches donations to Fallbrook Food Pantry during fundraiser

FALLBROOK – Silvergate Fallbrook held a summer fundraiser spectacular, dubbed "An Evening At Graceland" Thursday, July 28, to support the Fallbrook Food Pantry in its ongoing efforts to provide nutritious food for individuals in the community who are in need.

A packed courtyard of attendees danced and sang to their favorite Elvis Presley tunes while they opened their hearts and wallets in support of the charity. Silvergate then matched the donations raised to present the charity with a $4,800 fundraising check at the conclusion of the event.

"We are simply thrilled to receive this check from Silvergate and the community," said Shae Gawlak, executive director of the Fallbrook Food Pantry, who accepted the check along with Carolina Miller, programs director for the organization. "Once again, Silvergate opened its doors to the community to host this wonderful fundraiser and then generously matched the funds, which means these dollars will go twice as far right here in Fallbrook and give our team an opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of many local children, families, and seniors in need," Gawlak said.

At the event, entry donations were collected at the door along with non-perishable food items which are slated for distribution in the coming weeks. Guests were then treated to a host of Elvis' favorite foods, including a signature Blue Suede Shoe cocktail; an evening of rock-n-roll entertainment from James Kruk, a professional Elvis impersonator; and a series of giant Elvis-themed raffle baskets that were awarded through opportunity drawings. Organizers also recognized Karen Austin, a volunteer who has worked tirelessly for the Fallbrook Food Pantry for nearly 20 years.

"We were incredibly pleased with the huge turn-out we had and humbled by the generosity shown for this amazing cause," said Patricia Martinez, executive director at Silvergate, whose onsite Activities Team organized and executed the event. "Everyone should be able to sit down to a decent meal at the end of the day, which is why we're glad to have had the opportunity to mitigate food insecurity here in Fallbrook and help make a difference in the lives of so many local families."

Silvergate Fallbrook will again open its doors to the public later this year when it hosts a Resident Panel event for local seniors Thursday, Sept. 29. Residents from the community will discuss their personal senior living stories, talk about why they chose to live in a dynamic senior living community over remaining at home and field questions from attendees. Those interested in signing up to attend the panel can call Belen Garcia at 760-728-8880 to RSVP.

Silvergate Fallbrook offers independent living, assisted living and memory care in a premier senior living community featuring studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom accommodations.
