NCFPD authorizes RFP for administrative building upgrades

The North County Fire Protection District authorized a request for proposals to provide upgrades to the NCFPD administrative building.

The NCFPD board voted 5-0 Aug. 23 to authorize district staff, in conjunction with Erickson-Hall, to develop a request for proposals to construct the facility enhancement projects at the NCFPD headquarters building.

“We are putting together a scope of work for some upgrades to our administrative facility on Main Street,” said NCFPD Fire Chief Keith McReynolds.

NCFPD moved its administrative offices from Ivy Street to Main Avenue in 2009. Neither the building nor the grounds have had upgrades or significant repairs since then. In addition to enhancing the aesthetics of the property, the upgrades will increase security and reduce tripping hazards. A recent site safety inspection conducted by NCFPD staff indicated the need for multiple repair and improvement projects on and around the premises.

NCFPD staff and Erickson-Hall are working on a scope of work for the RFP. The scope of work currently includes asphalt repair and resurfacing, exterior door replacement, building entry control, a visitor parking stall meeting current Americans with Disabilities Act standards, exterior paint and window coverings, a new sign to replace the light-emitting diode sign which no longer functions, exterior lighting, and landscape enhancements. Additional items may be added to the scope of work.

“That will go out as an RFP,” McReynolds said.
