Lane is FAA guest artist for September

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Art Association will welcome B.J. Lane, Sept. 17. With a career spanning 50+ years, Lane's paintings, drawing, and sculptures have been showcased in galleries, museums and community venues. As a multi-disciplinary artist, Lane is skilled in many different mediums and is a published author. Her recent book "Memoirs of the Heart" features portraits and poetry.

Lane will give a workshop called "The Art of the Self Portrait" that is offered to beginners through advanced students who want to learn special techniques artists use in order to create a human portrait. The attendee will be guided through the process of learning different ways to capture emotion, likeness, and perspective of the human face, and the joys of creating a self-portrait.

Charcoal is highly recommended (especially for the beginner); however, if the advanced student wishes to bring their preferred medium, they can contact her directly. Call Carol Reardon to sign up in advance and receive a materials list, 909-755-7259

FAA will sponsor a fundraiser with an upcoming art show in support of the millions of refugees displaced by the war in Ukraine. All proceeds are going to World Central Kitchen, the international hunger relief organization working in Poland, Romania, Moldova, and Hungary feeding refugees of the war.

FAA's "Sunflowers for Ukraine Show" will be held at The FAA Gallery, Sept. 21 to Oct. 17 and is open to any artist to submit sunflower art as a donation for the fund. Take-in for the donated art is Sept. 19. FAA is hoping to generate a substantial donation with many artists adding to this collective effort to reach out and support the people of Ukraine. Monetary donations will be accepted for this event as well so you don't have to be an artist to contribute.

FAA's The Gallery is located at 300 N. Brandon Road. General meetings are held at the Fallbrook Women's Club, 238 W. Mission Road. FAA has a new art show every month at The Gallery with added theme shows along with their general art shows which are open to all members and guest artists. Entry forms and descriptions of the monthly shows along with a calendar of upcoming events can be found at http://www.fallbrookartassoc.org.
