Silvergate Fallbrook supports Charity Golf Tournament

FALLBROOK – As the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce annual Charity Golf Tournament got underway at Pala Mesa Resort on Friday, Oct. 14, an eager foursome from Silvergate Fallbrook took to the greens to support the organization's fundraising cause and spend the day navigating the back nine on the picturesque 6,502-yard course that meanders through towering sycamore and oak trees in south Fallbrook. The senior living community sponsored the tournament as an "Eagle Sponsor," a top-tier sponsorship level at the event.

"We came out to support the chamber as it raises funds for the Fallbrook Food Pantry," said Patricia Martinez, the executive director of Silvergate Fallbrook, whose community recently hosted an "Evening At Graceland" fundraiser in August to support the same charity. "The CEO and president of our company were here to participate as a foursome with one of the residents from our community. They take every opportunity possible to support the charitable organizations right here in Fallbrook."

The day-long golf tournament attracted 96 golfers and more than 50 corporate sponsors to help support an aggressive fundraising goal that the chamber set out to achieve. Opportunity drawings were awarded to several golf teams and special prizes were handed out for a hole-in-one, closest to the pin, longest drive and straightest drive. A special putting contest was also organized by the Friends of Fallbrook Library to further increase the funds raised for the charity.

"Even though the weather was less than favorable for this tournament, I still like taking to the game whenever I can," said Bill Schwartz, a senior golfer who served as a player on the foursome from Silvergate Fallbrook. "My wife currently resides at Silvergate Fallbrook, and I visit regularly to see her. I enjoy participating in the events and activities that the community hosts and supports. It's important to me that the owners of the community are actively involved with both the residents and the surrounding township of Fallbrook."

"We want to say thank you to Silvergate Fallbrook for their generous donation and ongoing support," said Jackie Toppin, the event organizer from the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce. "Partnerships with civic-minded organizations such as Silvergate enrich the lives of so many families, children and seniors in need which helps them to thrive and grow even in the face of hardship."

Company sponsors lined the greens to greet golfers as they played through the game on tournament day. Silvergate hosted a booth on the second hole enticing golfers to spin a colorful raffle wheel for chances to win a grand prize whiskey decanter with crystal golf ball glasses, monogrammed Silvergate Callaway golf balls, hunter green golf towels, beer koozies and other take-home prizes.

"We are extremely appreciative for the continued generosity of the tournament benefactors during a time when many companies are cutting back," said Shae Gawlick, executive director for the Fallbrook Food Pantry. "Our team members know how far this kind of support goes and how much good it does to support individuals right here in Fallbrook."
