Michelle's Place offers educational scholarships

FALLBROOK – Applications are open until March 15 for three educational scholarship opportunities through Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center. Applicants must live within the counties of Riverside and San Bernardino, or North San Diego County.

Each scholarship specifies its own criteria which can be found at https://michellesplace.org/programs-designed-to-empower/. Awardees will be selected by a review committee of volunteers and community members who support continuing education and the vision of Michelle’s Place, that no one should face cancer alone.

The Michelle’s Place Scholarship will award two applicants, one who lives in Riverside or San Bernardino counties, and one from North San Diego County. The awardee must demonstrate need for financial assistance for educational purposes and is someone who has been affected by cancer, either themselves or through a family member or friend.

The Shanen Skinner-Pearson Spirit of Life Scholarship will be awarded to an individual who has been impacted by breast cancer, either themselves or through an immediate family member, and who has used the experience to inspire others and to live a more fulfilled life. Applicants must live in the counties of Riverside, San Bernardino, or North San Diego County.

The Patricia Deroeux Scholarship is made possible by the Temecula Chamber of Commerce, to selected individuals in the City of Temecula who are in need of financial assistance for educational purposes, and who is a child of a parent who passed as the result of cancer. Applicants must maintain a permanent residence in the City of Temecula.

Michelle’s Place empowers individuals and families impacted by cancer through education and support services. Programs and services include financial resources, mental health resources, wigs and prosthetics, educational seminars, social support, and much more. With 22 programs that take place more than 50 times per month, clients seek community and find hope.
