Prestige Paving Company was given the Fallbrook Public Utility District contract for re-paving three locations.

FPUD’s board voted 5-0 Feb. 27 to award Prestige Paving Company, which is based in Corona, a $107,970 contract for one-time paving services. The contract will cover the intersection of McDonald Road and Palomino Road, the intersection of Alturas Road and Merida Drive, and a portion of Alta Vista Drive.

If FPUD installs or replaces pipeline segments, the pavement is removed. After the work is completed, the road is paved with temporary cold mix asphalt. The roadway will eventually need a longer-term resurfacing to meet County of San Diego standards and to ensure that the road’s integrity is not compromised.

The pipeline replacements at McDonald Road and Palomino Road, Alturas Road and Merida Drive, and Alta Vista Drive have been completed, so final paving is required at those sites. FPUD staff issued a request for proposals and received three bids.

United Paving Company, which is based in Corona, had the low bid of $88,000 but subsequently withdrew that bid. Prestige Paving Company submitted a bid of $107,790 and Asphalt & Concrete Enterprises, which is based in Santee, had a bid of $109,543.
