Fallbrook Music Society to present world-class jazz quartet in concert

FALLBROOK – Cutting-edge contemporary jazz keyboardist and composer Scott Wilkie promises a dynamic and diverse concert experience Sunday, March 19, at 2 p.m. Scott Wilkie and Friends, a bestselling jazz ensemble, is recognized for its fiery performances, explosive energy and diverse programming.

"We can't wait to welcome Scott Wilkie and Friends back to Fallbrook to once again experience the unique skills of these talented musicians," Bob Freaney, president of Fallbrook Music Society, said. "This concert promises to be a great finale to wrap up our 45th concert season."

Keyboardist Scott Wilkie began playing piano at age 6 in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan. After college, he moved to Southern California where he has produced eight critically acclaimed albums. His latest release, "Brasil" was honored by JAZZIZ Magazine as one of the "Best of 2019" and No. 1 on Hot New Release on Amazon for 17 straight weeks. Throughout his career, Wilkie toured extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Wilkie's Fallbrook performance will feature longtime friends and excellent musicians Pat Kelley on guitar, bassist Hussain Jiffry and drummer Jeff Olson. Kelley enjoyed a successful career in Los Angeles as a studio and touring musician, recording artist, composer, producer, arranger and recording engineer. He has been an integral part of the Thornton School of Music Guitar Faculty at University of Southern California for 24 years.

Jiffry was born and raised in Sri Lanka, arriving in California in 1988. He has traveled the world many times over, playing music with many beloved artists, including Sergio Mendes, Yanni, the Dave Wecki Band and Herb Alpert.

Olson is known for his stylistic versatility and can be heard on numerous CDs, TV shows and movie soundtracks. As a freelance artist and studio musician, he has toured in the Philippines, Indonesia, Korea, Europe, Canada and throughout the United States.

The concert will take place Sunday, March 19, at 2 p.m. in Fallbrook's historic Mission Theater at 231 N. Main Avenue. Doors open at 1 p.m. for social hour, and concert hall doors open at 1:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $20 adult until noon Friday, March 17; $25 thereafter, and can be purchased at http://www.fallbrookmusicsociety.org or at http://www.fallbrookmissiontheater.com.
