FALLBROOK – Fallbrook A Leer announces the winners of the 2023 Fallbrook A Leer/Reading Student Poetry & Art competition. This event is in coordination with Fallbrook Elementary Unified School District schools.
Many peer teachers reviewed all submissions and were able to narrow them down to the most beautiful poems and pieces of art. With great anticipation, it is an honor to announce the three winners of this contest.
The third grade winner is Zoe Paredes, a student in Ms. Dupre's class at Maie Ellis Elementary School.
The fourth grade winner is Eleanor Bolbeck, a student in Mrs. Hernandez's class at Maie Ellis Elementary School.
The fifth grade winner is Luis Emir Tornero Sanchez, a student in Ms. Bradely's class at William H. Frazier Elementary School.
The return of the annual Fallbrook A Leer/Reading & Family Literacy Project, Cesar Chavez Day of Service & Learning is on Saturday, April 15 at Maie Ellis Educational Center Campus from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. The first 60 students from each school will receive admission tickets and free books will be given to each child. The program includes story reading for all children in grades K-6, a special storytime for preschool children ages 3-4, and a children's Literacy Arts and Crafts Circuit.
Families are invited to attend this fun and educational event to support literacy for children in Fallbrook. The morning program includes reading workshops for parents conducted by expert presenters. There will be a drawing for a notebook computer and printer during the event.
This year's event will feature special guest Andres Chavez, grandson of the great Cesar Chavez whose leadership is the inspiration for A Leer Fallbrook's annual Day of Service and Literacy.
In addition to promoting literacy, Fallbrook A Leer also celebrates Cesar Chavez Day of Service and Learning and is a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Project. This event is a vehicle for students to perform community service and learn about giving back to their community.
