Two cellists to perform at Fallbrook Library

FALLBROOK – Freaney and Friends have added an additional free May concert for Tuesday, May 9, at 1 p.m. in the Community Room at the Fallbrook Library, 124 S. Mission Road. Freaney’s guests will include cellists Nathan Le and Ruslan Biryukov.

Nathan Le is a graduate of the New England Conservatory/Harvard dual-degree program. His artistry has been nationally and internationally acclaimed. In 2015, he was invited by the first lady of Armenia to perform in a music festival commemorating the centennial of the Armenian genocide.

He has also garnered top prizes in several international competitions. Le has appeared on the NPR radio show “From the Top,” performed on the L’Ermitage Foundation Concert Series with renowned pianist Robert Thies and was the winner of the 2017 YMF/ASCAP Foundation Leiber and Stoller Scholarship Competition.

Ruslan Biryukov, who is known for his “superb artistry, passion and individuality,” represents a new generation of creative professional musicians whose artistic level is recognized not only by awards but also by a worldwide audience. Biryukov has performed throughout the world, including countries in the former USSR, Europe and the United States.

He was the only cellist invited to perform for 10 consecutive years solo recitals at the Sundays Live Concert Series in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, as well as the only Russian cellist invited to solo with orchestra during the inaugural season of the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

He first gained international recognition by winning major awards in Azerbaijan and by the inclusion of his name in the Gold Book of Russia’s international program “New Names.” Biryukov won numerous other awards worldwide, including the 17th Mu Phi Epsilon International Competition.

The cellists will perform works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Paganini, Piazzolla, Debussy, Saint-Saëns, Brahams, as well as other composers. The concert is supported by the Friends of the Fallbrook Library.
