May is Mental Health Month: FRHD receives Super Star Award for mental health first aid trainings

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Regional Health District announces that it has received a Super Star Award from Mental Health America of San Diego County for its partnership in providing Mental Health First Aid Training to the community. This recognition comes during Mental Health Month, a time to raise awareness and promote mental health wellness.

The Super Star Award was shared with the UCSD Department of Psychology, Sweetwater Union High School District and Intuit, Inc. for their collaboration and support in delivering the Mental Health First Aid training to San Diego County residents. These trainings aim to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to mental health crises in their community.

Over the course of 11 training courses, 120 residents have been trained in Mental Health First Aid through the FRHD's Community Health and Wellness Center. The training has been well-received and has helped to raise awareness about mental health and reduce stigma in the community.

"We are honored to receive this award and to have the opportunity to collaborate with Mental Health America of San Diego County to promote mental health wellness," said Rachel Mason, CEO of FRHD.

"Our goal is to continue providing Mental Health First Aid Trainings to as many individuals in the community as possible to make a positive impact on the mental health of our community members," said Theresa Geracitano, center administrator of FRHD's Wellness Center.

For anyone who is interested in Mental Health First Aid, FRHD has five upcoming trainings. For more information, visit https://www.fallbrookhealth.org/mental-health-first-aid.
