FALLBROOK – On Nov. 18, Fallbrook Artists Association (FAA) welcomes Elin Thomas. She has been painting professionally in both acrylics and oils since 1983. Her representational work is sold through her web sites and blog, and she has won top awards in national juried shows featuring traditional art, equine art and dog art.
She is the author or co-author of Walter Foster books on acrylic painting and horses. This artist paints many new works each year, which find their way into an ever-growing group of collectors – proud owners of an original "Elin."
Her strengths are in her teaching, however. She conveys strong design principles when she juries a show, and shares many tips and tricks during a demonstration. She can be found on the web as she continues to teach the skills of color and painting in both media. Her Color System Flash Cards revolutionized painters’ color choices.
FAA’s general meeting is held at the Fallbrook Woman’s Club, 238 W. Mission Road, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., starting with a member’s art critique and Thomas will demonstrate her techniques. The meeting is always free to the public.
At 1 p.m., Thomas will teach a workshop. Advanced registration for the workshop is encouraged, however, sign-ups are also accepted that day. The cost to members is $40 or $50 for non-members. Call Carol Reardon to register and receive a materials list, 760-221-5577. The FAA workshops provide a comfortable setting for exploring and learning new art skills.
FAA’s Gallery is located at 300 N. Brandon Road, Fallbrook. FAA has a new art show every month at The Gallery which is open to all members and guest artists. Details can be found at http://www.fallbrookartassoc.org.
