FALLBROOK — Local veterinarian Kathy Earle, DVM, will leave on September 26 for Houston, TX, to volunteer her help to animals that have been injured or become sick due to Hurricane Ike.
Earle’s 15-year-old son, Drew, a sophomore at Fallbrook High School, is assisting her in establishing a fund to which community members can donate in order to help provide medical care for the animals.
Donations can be dropped off at Avocado Animal Hospital, 1111 East Mission Road. Checks should be made payable to one of the following: Texas A&M Foundation or the Houston Humane Society.
“I will be hand-carrying the donations to ensure they get to the place where help is needed the most,” Earle said. “The animals in need range in size from horses to guinea pigs.”
Earle said she is equipped to handle all her own expenses relating to the trip so donations will be used solely for animal care. Questions may be directed to Earle at (760) 497-8122.
