St. John's Episcopal presents $2,000 to Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society

CAMP PENDLETON — Father Wayne Sanders, rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church, along with parishioners Ruth Mowat and Gail Jones, recently visited the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society’s regional headquarters on Camp Pendleton to present Mike Hire, NMCRS Regional Director, a check for $2,000 – money the Fallbrook Episcopal Church raised at its second annual Used Treasure Sale this summer.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the director to explain and demonstrate how this money is used to meet the Society’s mission and goals.

This is the second year that the church has dedicated the proceeds from their sale to this worthy organization. This year’s sale chairperson was Mowat.

Since its establishment in 1904, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society has helped Sailors, Marines and their families with their most pressing educational, welfare and emergency financial needs.

Hire emphasized that demands upon the Society are now especially great because so many service members are being deployed overseas and the Society relies primarily on volunteers to accomplish its mission.
