Chargers honor Silvey as Coach of Week

The San Diego Chargers honored Fallbrook High School football coach Joe Silvey as the Chargers’ Coach of the Week.

Silvey earned Coach of the Week honors for the week of November 17-22 on the basis of Fallbrook’s 17-13 playoff victory November 21 at Mira Mesa.

The Chargers honored him publicly at the National Football League team’s December 28 home game.

“I’m a bit taken aback but proud to accept it on behalf of the team,” Silvey said of his honor. “I’m very grateful to the Chargers.”

The Coach of the Week honor also includes a $1,500 award for the school. Silvey hopes to utilize the money for new uniforms and equipment for the football team.

“I’m really kind of overwhelmed by it,” Silvey said of the Coach of the Week honor.
