REINS plans 13th annual Country Hoedown

REINS Therapeutic Horsemanship Program’s 13th annual Country Hoedown will be held October 10. Festivities begin at 3 p.m. and all event proceeds go directly to benefit REINS and their disabled students.

REINS is a 501©3 nonprofit located in Fallbrook that provides life-changing therapy on horseback to children and adults with disabilities. Nearly 200 students travel from all over San Diego, Riverside and Orange counties to participate.

“Our students are gaining strength in their core, which enables them to hold their head up, sit up on their own and even walk, all while being out side in the sunshine and on top of a horse,” said executive director Deborah Shinner.

REINS is always open to visitors and volunteers and encourages everyone to come on down to the hoedown and see the program in action.

This year’s riding demonstration features two REINS students who have cerebral palsy and another student who is training for the 2012 Para-Olympics in London.

Famous Dave’s BBQ is catering the dinner and Calico Ridge will be rockin’ the night away. Pre-sale tickets are $45 for adults and $20 for children. At-the-door tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for children.

This year’s silent auction features a trip to Zulu Nyala, Africa; a “Cooked in Your Home Gourmet Dinner” by LT’s private chef, Stuart Dodds; and a “Behind the Scenes Day Long Tour” (including dinner) by Fire Station #3 in Little Italy.
