FALLBROOK- The Fallbrook Girls Softball League (FGSL) 12U team won the North County Girls Fall Ball Championship by winning three consecutive games by a combined score of 35-4 on Sunday, November 15.
Fallbrook began their championship run with a closely contested game against Escondido, scoring six runs in the last two innings to put the game away in a 9-3 win. In the semifinal, Fallbrook got off to a slow start but finished strong with a 16-1 win. Then, in the championship game, Fallbrook scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back, shutting out Carlsbad 10-0.
Fallbrook’s pitching was dominant while their bats were hot. Brooke Koran pitched the quarterfinal and championship games, striking out a total of 15 batters. Morgan Pilbin pitched the semifinal game, striking out seven. Danielle DeVera went 5 for 6 with 5 RBI’s on the day to lead the charge while Morgan Kissick hit the team’s lone home run.
The entire team contributed with solid hitting, key bunts, and solid defense with big plays at key times. Fallbrook finished the season with a 14-2-1 record.
