Bertha "B." Kay turns 99

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Democratic Club honored Bertha “B.” Kay at its holiday celebration at the Hukilau restaurant.

After a round of “Happy Birthday to you,” Kay proudly announced, “I have always been a Democrat. We all loved F.D.R. I voted for him four times. I have voted every year, all my life, except this one, because I was in the hospital.”

Kay never liked the name Bertha, so she calls herself “B.” When asked if she had any words of wisdom to share, she said, “There were plenty of tough times. I can’t see too well and my hearing’s not so good, but I push it aside and think about what...
