Interdistrict transfers not allowed

Readers may be interested to know that it is nearly impossible to get an interdistrict transfer. Anyone who plans to send their kids out of Fallbrook next year may want to start petitioning now.

Our daughter is homeschooled through CAVA and we wanted to send her to Mission Vista which has a specialized track, but Fallbrook won’t allow the interdistrict transfer even though they will not benefit in anyway. She isn’t in the Fallbrook system, just attached to it by virtue of address.

I’m a firm believer in parent’s rights to choose their students’ education. Others may feel the same way. They may want to know that they will be in for a fight if they want a transfer out of Fallbrook and may want to start early.

I’ve already sent a letter to the State Superintendent after being denied by the Director of Student Services, the Assistant Superintendent, the Superintendent and am waiting for the county response through their board.

I am speaking at the board meeting, but don’t expect anything to benefit our daughter this spring term. My involvement at this point is hopefully to help other parents who value the freedom to choose.
