FALLBROOK – In April, the National Office of the Pop Warner Little Scholars announced this years’ National All-American Recipients. Twenty-two Fallbrook Pop Warner athletes were selected for All-American status based upon academic excellence.
Each year, the most academically accomplished Pop Warner kids compete for Academic All-American status. This process begins at the association level and up through each of the eight Pop Warner regions to the national level. This year nearly 10,000 applications were submitted.
The Pop Warner Little Scholar All-American Program requires a minimum 96 percent grade point average to apply for All-American status. After the applications have been processed, Pop Warner determines National First Team All-Americans (35 football & cheer per grade level - top 1 percent), National Second Team All-Americans and National Honorable Mention Scholars.
The Pop Warner program philosophy is that athletics and scholastics go hand in hand; good scholastics are required for participant eligibility during the regular season.
Honorees are invited to attend this year’s 50th Annual National Pop Warner Scholastic Awards Banquet on May 28 in Philadelphia, Penn. and the Palomar Regional Conference Awards Dinner on June 19 in San Diego.
