4.6 and 4.9 moderate earthquakes shake Riverside County

At 8:56 pm tonight, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded 9 miles north/northwest (NNW) of Borrego Springs, 19 miles southeast (SE) of Anza, 22 miles east/northeast (ENE) of Lake Henshaw, 32 miles south/southeast (SSE) of Palm Springs, and 59 miles northeast (NE) of San Diego.

It's depth was 5.8 kilometers, or 3.6 miles.

At 9:20 a 4.6 magnitude was recorded nearby that was 5.6 kilometers deep (3.5 miles) and was 10 miles NNW from Borrego Springs, 18 miles SE of Anza, 21 miles SSW of LaQuinta, 25 miles SSW from Indio, 31 miles SSE from Palm Springs, and 60 miles NE from San Diego.

No damage or injuries were reported.

Six thousand three hundred and twenty people in over 300 zip codes reported feeling the quakes on the United States Geological Survey's (USGS) website by 9:50 pm tonight. Hundreds of people felt it as far away as Los Angeles and Chula Vista.

Several aftershocks of magnitude 1.1 to 1.6 followed.
