Garden Club donates to Trails Council, Save Our Forest

FALLBROOK – Connie Forest, outgoing co-president of the Fallbrook Garden Club, recently presented checks to Donna Gebhart of the Trails Council of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy and to Jean Dooley representing the Save Our Forest section of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy.

The Trails Council maintains the trail along the Santa Margarita River, among others, and encourages conservation and appreciation of local trails and forests. The Save Our Forest group has many projects in Fallbrook and the surrounding countryside, but the money given by the Fallbrook Garden Club was for the purpose of expanding their tree planting program that they have done for many years with La Paloma School.

The Fallbrook Garden Club was able to fund several projects in the community this year, due to the success of the 2009 garden tour. Money was given to the Fallbrook Library for the purchase of garden related books for the new library and to the Fallbrook Beautification Alliance to help with the maintenance of the island divides on South Mission. Live Oak School was given a grant of $1,000 to support their program of organic vegetable gardening.

Representatives of the Fallbrook Garden Club said they look forward to helping other gardening and conservation projects in the coming year.
