Quilt Guild to host award-winning quilter

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Quilt Guild will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, August 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fallbrook Community Center, 341 Heald Lane. A business meeting followed by a “show and tell” of works done by members, and a social refreshment time will precede the featured program.

This month’s presenter will be acclaimed, award winning quilter, Sharon Schamber. She has been awarded “Best in Show” twice at the renowned American Quilt Show in Paducah, Kentucky. Schamber will display some of her works and techniques to the group and then lead a two-day workshop August 7 and 8.

In the workshop, students will learn how to make “feathers” fit in all sizes of borders and learn her secret to making the feathers flow evenly and smoothly. She also will show how to fit feathers in block areas and how to fill the spaces in quilts. In addition, students will learn how to sew perfectly flat binding, make perfect mitered corners, and to hide hand stitching.

Information for the workshop, including cost, is available from Elvia Dawson, program chair at (951) 694-8023. For inquiries regarding membership, contact Cheryl Jeter at (760) 231-7746.
