What good are North County Fire's notices?

So here we are - another fire season approaches. I do read the notices sent out by North County Fire Protection District. They ‘say’ they need our help. Great; I’m good with that.

I have called regarding palm trees that are at a corner of my property that seriously need to be trimmed. Two of my surrounding neighbors have just spent lots of dollars improving their fencing which bypasses these trees.

I was told by North County Fire that they cannot force people to trim their trees. Hmm. Then heavens, why send out the notice? Why have “requirements?”

Having received that information from the fire district could we assume they will absorb the cost if we lose our homes due to untrimmed trees? Ah ha, I bet not.
