Operation Showers of Appreciation needs donations for military baby shower

CAMP PENDLETON – Operation Showers of Appreciation will host a baby shower on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Pala Casino Spa & Resort at 1 p.m. Approximately 27 new and expecting mothers who have deployed partners or are active-duty servicewomen will be supported. All military branches of service will be invited (Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines) to participate. The event will include gifts from the local community.

Individuals or companies wishing to donate items or volunteer can contact Kimberly Felshaw, shower coordinator, at (949) 547-7780 or [email protected]. Donations of baby items can be handmade or purchased. There is a need for diapers, baby shampoo/wash, bottles, teethers, pacifiers, bath tubs, wash cloths, clothing, socks, shoes and toys.

“As the closest casino to Camp Pendleton, we have always considered the Marine Corps to be part of the Pala family. When family members are representing our country far from home, it is a stressful time for everyone. Operation Showers of Appreciation is a terrific program. We are proud to be part of it and hope all Marine Corps families can be reunited as soon as possible,” said Bill Bembenek, Pala’s chief executive officer.
