BWC honors their Volunteer of the Year

BONSALL – At the March general meeting of the Bonsall Woman's Club, Helen Poddoubnyi was named Volunteer of the Year. This honor is bestowed on the member who has not only provided many hours of service to the club and the community but has done so in a variety of ways.

As the BWC treasurer Poddoubnyi is an integral part of the club's operations. She has recently set up a new bookkeeping program and reports to the board and the membership the financial standings of the club. Her work with the bank and the accountant are vital to the Charitable Donations Committee's distributions to 501(c)(3) organizations.

Poddoubnyi volunteers for all the fundraising opportunities by creating silent auctions and raffle baskets. Her skills, ideas and imagination have turned out valuable items for greater fundraising revenue. Her energy, passion, reliability and countless volunteer service hours are exemplary and inspirational. The members gave Poddoubnyi a standing ovation upon hearing her name as the 2023 Volunteer of the Year.

The program for the Thursday, April 6, meeting will be presented by the Fallbrook Historical Society. A slideshow of early Fallbrook will be presented showcasing how the railroad was a catalyst for economic growth and support of local businesses.

Included in the history of the train is the importance of it to the thriving agriculture in the area by transporting thousands of pounds of fruit locally and to other states. The club welcomes guests to the social gathering at 9:30 a.m. at the Bonsall Community Center. The meeting starts at 10 a.m. Information about the club may be found at http://www.bonsallwomansclub.org.
