Community clean-up part of worldwide effort

FALLBROOK — Keep Fallbrook Clean and Green has scheduled their annual Community-Wide Clean-up and Recycling Day for Saturday, September 20, in conjunction with I Love a Clean San Diego and San Diego Coastkeeper’s Countywide Clean-up, the California Coastal Commission’s statewide clean-up and the international clean-up sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy. Seventy-six different countries and 45 US states and territories will all participate in this clean-up activity.

The Fallbrook clean-up, from 9 a.m. to noon, will also include a number of recycling events at the parking lot behind the Art & Cultural Center and a large item clean-up in several areas of town under the aegis of I Love a Clean San Diego and San Diego Coastkeeper, as well as street litter pick-up in the downtown area.

San Diego County has set a goal to get 6,300 volunteers out this year. Those interested may sign up at http://www.cleanupday.org.

Everyone who volunteers must first sign and submit a waiver, obtained through the I Love a Clean San Diego Web site. Waivers will also be available on clean-up day at the parking lot behind the Art & Cultural Center.
