Bennetts has an eye for detail

At Coldwell Banker Landmark Group, Realtor Don Bennetts is regarded by many as an individual of impeccable integrity. Dealing primarily in residential properties in the Fallbrook and Bonsall area, he provides clients with strategic ideas and comprehensive answers to questions about real estate.

Before becoming a Realtor four years ago, Bennetts had an extensive career in construction. “I was a general contractor for 20-plus years,” he explained.

After a couple of back surgeries, Bennetts discovered it was time for a career change.

Although he no longer works in the field of construction, his clients greatly appreciate the level of knowledge he has in the field.

With a keen eye and ability to explain things well, Bennetts can answer questions, discuss possibilities and offer helpful advice pertaining to home remodels, additions and inspections.

At first, Bennetts hadn’t really thought to pursue a career in real estate. That was, until he met Realtor Cheri Mundell at Coldwell Banker.

“I was helping my wife, Teresa, start up her Eurofit business and it got to the point where she didn’t need me anymore,” said Bennetts. “Cheri Mundell was one of her clients. We got to talking about being a Realtor one day and I decided it was a good fit for me.”

After securing his license, Bennetts chose to work with Coldwell Banker Landmark Group because of its wonderful resources and solid reputation. “I was also fortunate to have Cheri as my mentor,” he said. Bennetts admits that Mundell was, at times, strict in her mentoring, but it only proves the high level of integrity she adheres to.

Bennetts has lived and worked in the Fallbrook area for 18 years, making him greatly familiar with the real estate nuances of this rural town.

With a background in construction and bidding projects, it’s no surprise that Bennetts’ aptitude in real estate negotiations is exceptional. “I want to make sure that my clients are treated fairly and are given the best deal possible,” he said.

Keeping a sharp eye on the terms and provisions of a contract makes a transaction flow smoothly for his clients.

In real estate, every transaction is different, said Bennetts. People buy and/or sell property for their own personal reasons.

Sensitivity to these reasons comes naturally for Bennetts. “I have spent more time listening than talking with others,” he said. “It’s all about my clients, not my commission.”

Even though the market as a whole is in a challenging cycle, for those who have the money to buy properties for investment, the inventory is great.

Finding a loan these days is different than in previous times, Bennetts said, but it can still be done. “With good credit and higher down payments, there are loans out there,” he said.

Bennetts also said it is not necessary to purchase a foreclosure to locate a “steal.”

“Buying foreclosures can be a very stressful process, and sometimes it’s unnecessary because there are other deals out there with nicer homes,” he noted.

His clients have learned that Bennetts exudes honesty and diligence. Earning the trust of his clients is very important.
